An important peculiarity of the International Doctorate depends on the organization of a wider mobility of PhD students through participation in the teaching and research laboratories in the four territories (Argentina, Cuba, Italy, Nicaragua), with particular reference to two contexts: Milan and Sancti Spiritus, where all the teaching and research of the first year; Managua and Florencio Varela where all the teaching and research of the second year.

While the research activities for the development of the thesis refers to the theme chosen by the student and one or two reference territories where develop their project.

In general it is expected that all participants at the PhD a minimum period of six months in general mobility and a minimum of 6 months for research activities related to the work of the dissertation.

Employability

The Ph. D. Program aims to train professions and researchers through an international and interdisciplinary high education that will position themselves in the international market of project planning, in the management of the interventions, in the analysis of local context and also social and public policies.

Specifically, at the end of the programme, the Ph. D. Doctorates will be able to:

  • Recognize the pragmatic and epistemological bases of the development;
  • Analyze complex situations through theories, good practices and capacity of critical lecture of events and policies;
  • Find new creative and constructive solutions for “stagnant” problems and complex situations.
  • Project qualitative and quantitative researchers that should be cultural sensitive and participated.
  • Utilize critically instruments of evaluation and monitor.
  • Adopt  strategy of communication to connect all different stakeholders.
  • Provide consultancy to the organizations that are engaged in programs of cooperation and development.
  • Lead and/or manage programs of cooperation and development for Governments and NGOs.
  • Manage corporate social responsibility programs in profit and no profit organizations.
  • Provide tactical and strategic support to the Public Administration involved in the research of funding for projects of development.
  • Competencies in grant writing with creativity, accuracy and theory - practical coherence for public and private institutions.
  • Match sustainable development opportunities offered by local initiatives and funding with opportunities from international cooperation funding.
  • Aid the local actors to promote partnership of development with territories of other countries.
  • Being competent in the rational resource management for processes of local integration.
  • Utilize critically and innovate the current instruments of project planning coherently with the objectives of the UN 2030 Agenda.
  • Capacity to manage the methods and techniques to reduce the vulnerability of a territory and manage emergencies situation.

Through the acquisition of these skills, Ph. D. Students will find employment in local, national or international context at public, private for profit and non-profit institutions, as public administrations, non-governmental organizations, companies, research and cooperation agencies.
